In 2000 the Synod Campus Ministry Committee assumed much of the structure for synodical campus ministry evangelism and growth that had been central to the work of Evangelizing More Boldly [EMB] since 1997. Most of the members of EMB's state board were appointed by the Bishop to serve on the SCMC. That body sought to more clearly define how EMB would continue to function as part of the Florida-Bahamas Synod's new mission toward campus ministry. The following statement reflects the synodical relationship with EMB:

"Evangelizing More Boldly [EMB] consults with Florida-Bahamas Synod via the Synod Campus Ministry Committee in providing a model for Campus Ministry called Peer Ministry, in training Peer Ministers, lay and clergy support, and in networking."

WHAT'S UP IN EMB'S SYNODICAL RELATIONSHIP ?

NEW MINISTRY: EMB currently seeks to work with a partner congregation to raise up campus ministry in Pensacola.

FUNDING: EMB continues to seek new funding sources outside the Church for Campus Ministry. Continues to assist established sites that are currently all under-funded. A special emphasis is made toward F.I.T.'s Protestant Campus Ministry in providing a Peer Minister.

TRAINING: EMB provides annual Peer Ministry Training in mid August. In 2001 a training session was provided for the campus pastor at GA TECH. In January 2002 EMB worked with the GA TECH Campus Pastor to provide Peer Ministry Training for GA TECH and GA STATE communities, both Lutheran and Episcopal. Peer Ministers and Campus Minister from Jacksonville Campus Ministry at University of North Florida and the Campus Pastor at ChapelCenter of University of South Florida and EMB President traveled to GA TECH to facilitate the training.

Peer Ministers that are trained are invited to subsequent training retreats to provide leadership. Evaluations indicate that this is one of the most valuable parts of the training and fosters the structure of equality that is unique to peer ministry.

NETWORKING: EMB maintains an electronic network of sites and staff. Seeks to keep in touch and advocate for sites that need support. EMB provides leadership in coordinating a Campus Ministry presence at the annual Synod Assembly.
