A Perfect Murder
plot - Michael Douglas wants to kill his wife, and he thinks he is really smart when he plans it all out.
comments - Michael Douglas needs to find a new character to play. That Wall Street, all business, dead serious dude is like, old. I guess this movie was ok. I think it tried to be a little too smart for itself. Glad I didn't see this in the regular theatre.
verdict - enh. ** 1/2

BASEketball
plot - South Park dudes invent this game, and do coo stuff.
comments - Trey and Matt funny. This movie is directed by the Naked Gun dude, so its that type of movie, yknow, the jokes are in quantity, not quality. But Trey and Matt bring da South Park humor, so there are actually some laughs, and the laugh/not laugh joke ratio is up above 50% (you laugh more times than you don't). Dude.
verdict - Not the funniest ever, but some good chuckles. ** 1/2

Saving Private Ryan
plot - Private James Ryan's three brothers have died in the war. A team of men are sent by the government to find Ryan, who is deep in enemy territory, and bring him back.
comments - This movie is awesome. I bow down to Speilberg's movie genius. The movie is very gory, which is not bad though since this is a war movie after all. I like the way the colors were desaturated to bring out the pale faces and dampen the green and bring out the red. Also, main characters died without any cheap Hollywood melodrama. I decided to pay my respects, which is why this review is not in a humorous tone. Well, ok, maybe just one joke. Q: Why did Eric cross the road? A: No o yo bidness, foo!
verdict - Definitely go see it. It is the Oscar winner. ****

There's Something About Mary
plot - This loser dude gets his nuts stuck in his tuxedo zipper and can't go to the prom with Mary. So he spends the next 10 or 15 years wishing that he had married her. Then, he and these other dudes start stalking her and playin her, and she has to decide who she likes the bestest.
comments - This is a pretty funny movie. There's lots of digusting scenes that people will probably remember for a long time. Supposedly this is the best movie of the 90's or something, but I thought there were only like 3 or 4 really good scenes and the rest of the movie dragged. But its still pretty funny I guess.
verdict - I give it a thumbs up. ***

Lethal Weapon 4
plot - Mel Gibson and Danny Glover go around and blow stuff up and also fight these Chinese dudes.
comments - In my opinion, the best Lethal of the series. It was funny and had lotsa explosions. And Jet Li was purty cool. I wonder why every Chinese dude in the movie knew karate. Am I missing something? I'm Chinese and I don't know karate. This sucks.
verdict - If you like action movies, then this is pretty much a good summer action flick. If you don't like the Lethal Weapon series, then you probably won't like it. But I liked it. ***

Armageddon
plot - There is an asteroid comin to blow up the earth. Who will save us? Bruce Willis, as always.
comments - A good summer blockbuster. Bay and Bruckheimer make some good macho movies. It was kinda cheesy (with the love story, and the kid comin out for daddy at the end) and kinda unrealistic (some real astronauty stuff was omitted for movie sake), but I still liked it. I actually liked it when that kid came runnin out for daddy. So there.
verdict - Please consume your daily requirement of action-packed summer blockbusters. Thank you. *** 1/2

X-Files
plot - Mulder and Scully go around and try uncover conspiracies and such.
comments - Some would say it was just a long tv episode, which I would sort of agree with. But only sort of. It had all these exotic movie locales and sweeping camera shots and special effects that made it movie-ish. Even if you don't watch the X-Files you can still understand whats going on.
verdict - I liked it. I probably wouldn't see it twice though. ***

Dirty Work
plot - Norm MacDonald is always gettin pushed around, so he starts a revenge for hire business. Hilarity ensues.
comments - I like Norm and his style of comedy. This was a good comedy. A good SNL movie. I wonder what it would be like if Bob Saget didn't direct it.
verdict - Yep, funny. Get a pile of friends together one night and rent it. ***

The Truman Show
plot - Truman is growing up in front of the cameras and he doesn't know it. Then he finds out and leaves.
comments - I guess it was an ok social commentary. It was similar to Carrey's Cable Guy in that it was trying to tell people not to be so dependent on TV and media. Truman would have to be a pretty stupid person to not know he was on camera for 30 years though.
verdict - yeah, good I guess. ***

Godzilla
plot - Godzilla smash. And make babies. Babies smash.
comments - A bit disapointing. The CGI were good though. I didn't particularly like any of the acting.
verdict - If you missed it, its ok. **

He Got Game
plot - Denzel is in prison. He has to get his basketball playin son to go to the college the warden wants him to go to.
comments - I'm not a big Spike Lee fan.
verdict - kinda sappy. ** 1/2

The Big Hit
plot - Marky Mark is a nice hitman, and his pals aren't. But he's the hero so he has to get the chick.
comments - A good action movie. Has all the right action scenes combined with the comedy. Christina Applegate is cool but a little less Jewish stereotype please.
verdict - coo. ***

Deep Impact
plot - Up in the sky, its a bird, its a plane, its a comet that will wipe out the earth! RRRRRUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
comments - Cheesy. Sappy. This movie tries to be all emotional, but it doesn't work. I felt nothing. I was hoping they would all die. I had alot of gripes with this movie, but I'm writing the review like 2 months after I saw it so I don't remember them all.
verdict - Thumbs down. Skip it. **
