President Clinton's Proposed 1996 Budget - This is a gopher site. Not sure of who maintains it, but it looks like an official comprehensive repository of President Clinton's 1996 proposed budget. It contains Lotus 123 spreadsheets of the historical tables, charts and graphs (gif files), and what appears to be a comma delimitied database of the entire budget.
CIVIX - This is a hierarchy of Web pages that starts with a listing of departments and the corresponding percentages of the total federal budget and allows the user to "drill down" through multiple levels right to the line item level. It provides descriptions, accessed by the "(D)" hyperlink, on some items. The quality of these descriptions varies.
U.S. National Debt Clock - It appears that this clock is not just a ticker program but that the proprieter takes some care to ensure that it is reconciled to the actual debt from day to day.
Another U.S. National Debt Clock - Internet debt clocks are cool! This one is in the form of a billboard. Big graphics mean slow download.
To The Penny... - The Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Public Debt publishes the official public debt, to the penny, for each day of the current month as well as some historical figures. Watch it grow...if you have the stomach for it.
The Department of the Treasury - The DOTT main page. A lot of stuff -- even photos of Ruben and the staff. It could be a great resource.
