Graham Owen relates in his Owen History that Aunt Jac lost her hearing as a young girl and read lips. My mother, Janice Ruth Watkins Lee related that her grandmother Ruth Owen Watkins (Jac's niece) told her that she lost her hearing as a young adult. Either way she read lips very well and according to Graham she could even tell when a word was mispronounced.
