May 23, 1999 - Dry Slab

Well, it rained the days after the slab was poured.  Everyone assured me that the rain was a good thing - the slab would be "slow cured".  Sounds like a commerical for ham...

Yesterday, Heather called to let me know that a big flatbed truck stopped by the lot and dumped off a bunch of lumber.  Actually, it's the prefabricated roof trusses.

Anyway, we went out today for a cookout at the Vahle's.  Most of the adults tramped around the now dry slab at least once.  It looks small again...

Important stuff

These pages are currently stored on the Alachua County Freenet's server.  I have a 5MB limit, which I exceeded with the previous web page.  Luckily, I found a folder filled with files from a group Web project and after deletion I have another 1.3MB to play with.  My ISP gives me another 5MB and I can probably store stuff on Santa Fe's web server after that.  So, if you notice that you're no longer at afn.org, DON'T PANIC.  I'm just storing the files for the web site where I can!

Wow!  It looks much worse in this picture.  That is not a hole in the middle of the dining room/foyer - it's a puddle.  Wanted to get a shot of the low point of the slab

Here's Joe standing in the Family room.  Hey Joe!  What's that in your right hand?

Another shot of Joe.  Notice now there is nothing in his right hand.
Look at that expanse of concrete.  Still looks small when you're standing on it!
These are the roof trusses that were literally "dropped off" on Saturday morning.
