April 14, 1999 - Passed First Inspection

I drove out to the lot yesterday after my 3:15 class.  I was surprised to find the County inspector out there, since I was told that he would be inspecting that morning.  (Found out that he does inspections in our area in the afternoons - good thing to know and convenient for me if I need to talk to him.)  He was quite friendly and gave me all sorts of useful info.

Well, we passed the inspection...sort of.  "Excepted as noted" was the official phrase.  The engineering specifications called for rebar in the footer set apart 8 feet on center and the architectural drawings had them set at 4'8".  The crew set them based on the engineering specs.  Since the two differed, our builder needed to be aware of the difference.  The inspector was not going to hold up construction on this - our builder just needed to either get the architect to sign off on the difference or add more rebar.

Since nothing new had been done since the last set of pictures, I didn't bother to take any yesterday.

Today I actually left campus soon after my last class (1:50), so I decided to run out to the lot just to see if anything had changed.  Nothing extreme, but I snapped a few shots:

Look!  Concrete blocks, stuff in plastic, and a bunch of sand!
Look!  More concrete blocks!
It must be an official construction site - they brought a Porta-Potty.  Actually, it will be an offical construction site when there's a bunch of guys on the lot standing around doing nothing.  WATCH FOR THE PHOTO!!

Joe says:  "Nah, it will be an official construction site when you walk by and they start yelling 'Hey Baby!' at you."

Ed called this evening to see if we could "borrow" about 100 gallons of water from Kurt and Heather for the mason.  Kurt said yes.  Ed expects the mason to get to work tomorrow or Friday.  I'll probably bounce back out on Friday and take more pics if anything changed.
