Jill Sonke-Henderson studied dance at Interlochen Arts Academy,
Florida
State University and in New York City, London, Paris and Athens with
teachers including Bella Lewitsky, Lynda Davis, Milton Meyers, Joy
Kellman,
Dick Andros, Frances Patrelle, Lori Belilove, Julia Levien, and Hortense
Koluris. Ms. Sonke-Henderson danced professionally with the Isadora
Duncan
Repertory Dance Company in New York City (currently Lori Belilove &
Company), performing nationally and internationally, and has been a guest
dancer and choreographer with Gainesville's Dance Alive! and with Stuart
Pimsler Dance and Theater. She has taught modern dance, improvisation
and
ballet for twelve years, and teaches special populations such as deaf and
hard of hearing children and the physically disabled.
Ms. Sonke-Henderson has been an Artist-in-Residence in the Shands Arts in
Medicine program for six years, is Co-founder and Co-director the Center
for
the Arts in Healthcare Research and Education at the University of
Florida,
and is the Arts in Medicine Coordinator at Santa Fe Community College. She
is the recipient of a New Forms Florida Fellowship Award, has received an
Individual Artist Fellowship Honorable Mention Award from the State of
Florida, and is a frequent lecturer and guest artist at schools, hospitals
and conferences throughout the United States.
