Classrooms are bustling with energy. Children are working in small groups collecting information, planning and experimenting.
Students are involved in the evaluation of their learning through application-based assessment.
Behavior management is taught as part of the curriculum by including conflict resolution and student mediation skills. Children learn to take responsibility for their actions. the solution to a problem often comes from the children.
Communication with parents is ongoing and individual.
A Personal Education Plan for each student is part of the assessment process. Portfolio contents are shared during conferences.
Children read classical and contemporary literature discussing new words responding and panning related learning activities.
Using manipulatives, mathematical concepts are taught to small groups of children. Children plan with their teacher what practice the will do each day and then they work independently at their own level and pace.
Our South Beach setting provides our school with rich and varied opportunities for involvement in community projects.
Energetic and creative interns from the University of Miami, Florida International University and Barry University are involved in all aspects or our hands on program.
