Our music
philosophy is one of diversity. When you listen to the group-owned
radio stations in our area, you get a very well polished presentation
that usually sounds is if it would work in any city in America. The
music, too is nearly always well researched, top performing selections.
The problem is that a lot of music that we remember doesn't make the
cut for these big stations because it doesn't research out high enough
any more. The result is a small playlist of songs that repeat too
quickly.
We're not criticizing how other radio stations present their formats.
Some of them spend a lot of money trying to get a sound that you will
like. We just happen to think that throwing away most of your available
music library because some audience researcher tells you too, is rather
short-sighted. We think that a larger playlist means less burnout and
longer, more enjoyable listenting for you.
To that end, we adopted the philosophy that any song that made it into
the top 40, certainly the top 20, during our target era deserves to be
played. That's why you will hear a lot of songs on FunRadio that are
never played anywhere else in town. So far, our musical playlist
exceeds 5,000 songs and we have not even begun to acquire all of the
songs that should be on the air. Before we are done, our playlist will
top over 15,000 titles.
We need your input to make FunRadio the best that it can be. If there
is a song that you would like to hear on FunRadio, we would like to
hear from you. Also, if there is a song that you just can't stand or
that has some defect, we want to know about that, too.
.While we do want to play most songs of
the rock &
roll era, we strive to keep patently offensive material off of the
airwaves. Less popular or more novel songs are also played less
frequently and/or played at non-prime hours.
