Originally founded as an advocacy group for fallout victims downwind of the Nevada nuclear test site, the group has expanded its efforts to other sites where nearby residents are in jeopardy due to nuclear, military, or environmental projects.

Council for a Livable World
The Council for a Livable World is dedicated to eliminating weapons of mass destruction- nuclear, chemical, and biological. The Council also acts as a poitical action committee, supporting Senate candidates who support arms control.
Abolition 2000

Federation of American Scientists
"FAS is the oldest organization dedicated to ending the arms race and avoiding the use of nuclear weapons, and much of its work has been in nuclear arms control and disarmament." The original group was founded in 1945 by members of the Manhattan Project.

Peace Action
This group works toward nuclear disarmament, reduction of military spending, and the end of the international arms trade. Peace Action lobbies on the national, state, and local levels, and publishes an annual voting record for every member of Congress.

Violence Policy Center
The Violence Policy Center views firearms violence not as a crime issue, but as a widespread public health issue which manifests itself in many ways, including crime. Focus is on education and policy change.
