The Best Things in Life
Katelin McDilda

Have you ever thought about what you would do with your life if your parents were not always there for you?  Most kids haven’t. They have just taken things for granted their whole life.  Parents provide us with money, lessons, and love.  No, one loves you as much as you’re parents do.

Foremost your parents provide you with money.  If you added up all the money your parents spend on you $100.00 would not seem like that much money any more.  During the holidays you are used to getting a lot of presents and it’s quite fun for you to receive all of those presents, although that’s a lot of money out of your parents’ pockets just to make you happy. If you do after school activities it cost money to get you involved in them.

In addition to the money your parents spend on you they also spend a lot of their time teaching you the lessons of life.  One rule your parents have most likely taught you is the golden rule, treat others the way you want to be treated.  You may not realize it but one method your parents teach you lessons and rules is punishment.  When that happens your parents are trying to help you mature to a good person.  You may not enjoy the process of learning lessons and rules, but you will thank your parents later.

Above all your parents show you love and compassion.  Parents will always love you no matter what mistakes you make, because they know everyone makes mistakes at one point in his or her life.  Buying you things and punishing you are only two of the ways parent express their love towards toward you. Don’t forget your parents are two of the few people in the world who won’t judge you by appearance, but by what really counts, your attitude.

All in all your parents are two of the best things in life, and they express their love to you in many ways, teach you lessons, and reward you with gifts.  So, don’t forget to say thank you for all those things!
