The Beginning
It all started in the winter of '96 when Gordon, Jeff, and Joe got
together to
start a band. Since Joe had a guitar, Gordon had a bass, and Jeff had a
broken
microphone that usually didn't work, they could actually practice and
play. It
wasn't before long until they came up with songs. "The New Gurl", "Pick It
Up",
"Four-Wheeled Fugatives", and "I Need a Job" were the songs they came up
with
first. After a few weeks of practicing, Tim got drums and was added to the
band
without hesitation. The band came up with a new song, "Smell My Feet",
which
absolutly meant nothing but had a catchy tune. Then would come the bad
times
the band would encounter, which all bands eventually do. They weren't
playing
or practicing and hadn't been for about a month.
The Good Times
Jeff invited Justin, a friend who plays guitar, to play with the band in a
practice in Jeff's basement. Justin would be practicing with them a lot
more
regularly because he was added to the band. This caught the band's fire
again
as they once again started practicing. After discarding all of the songs
except
"Four Wheeled Fugatives" and "I Need A Job" (Mainly beacause all the other
songs sucked) they had to start making new songs. Remakes would also
follow, as
they remade "I Don't Wanna Hear It", (originally by Minor Threat) "Bro
Hymn",
(originally by Pennywise) and "Too Little, Too Late", (originally by
Aus-Rotten).
"10 Years Ahead" and "The New Song" would follow as their songs became
well
organized and memorized.
Shows
Their first official show was one May 22nd in Jeff's basment. The show
went well
and a select group of people had heard them for the first time. Irish
Confetti
opened for them and the show was free. Their second show was on June 1st
at
Campus Life, which is located in the North Kent Mall. Around 50-100 people
gathered around and payed $1 (none of that went to the bands) to see many
bands
including All Rights Reserved, Big Fil, Furthur, Irish Confetti, and a few
more
I can't remember. Although being nervous, the band thought this show went
well,
but could have been better. Their third show was on June 12th in Justin's
basement with Irish Confetti once again opening for them. Both bands
played very
good, best ever seen, but the show wasn't seen by many people. A few shows
have
been schedualed for July.
Fight For A Name
Back in the old days, All Rights Reserved was known as The Rent-A-Cops.
But Tim
did not like the name so a new one was needed. Many suggestions were given
by
fans, friends, and members. Around the time of the Campus Life concert, a
name
was needed for the flyer that would be passed out. For some strange
reason, they
decided to put down The Kalidiscope Konspiricy (spelled purposefully
wrong). But
just before the concert, the band had finally decided on a name. The name
of the
band and most likely will be for a long time is ALL RIGHTS RESERVED!
