The Demon Lady of UFL presents ....

A Tribute

to

John Pyper-Ferguson

Updated August 9, 1997

Welcome to the JPF tribute page, an endeavor organized in honor of an actor -- and a role -- who deserves more attention than he gets:

John Pyper-Ferguson

known to fans of The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. as Pete Hutter, one of the most entertaining (and enduring) villains to tread the boards and chew the scenery in all of cult TV.

JPF's career has not, thankfully, been limited to one role in one (cancelled) TV show. He's been seen in a veritable host of other programmes pandering to the genre: The X-Files, The Outer Limits (90's version), Highlander: the Series, and Star Trek: the Next Generation, to name a few ...
Here's a more extensive filmography for our boy. It does not include his more recent appearances:

  • McHale's Navy (1997)
  • Millenium: "The Wild and the Innocent" (1997)
  • VIPER

He has also made an appearance on Millenium as the ghost of a medieval baron who was tortured to death for witchcraft.

I wrote to Bruce Campbell and, hat in hand, asked if he could perchance provide his opinion of JPF for this page ... he was good enough to oblige. Thanks, Bruce!

"J.P. Ferguson is one of those actors who so enjoys his craft, that he tends to steal the scenes he is in, merely by out-enjoying the other actors around him. He's not even an idiot, either ...."

JPF was nominated for a Gemini (a Canadian Emmy) for his role as Brian Cullen in the Highlander: THe Series episode, "Courage." For some completely inexplicable reason, he didn't get it. Obviously, the judging panel was rigged.

JPF's latest venture, "For Richer or Poorer" -- he has third billing behind Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley -- is scheduled for a December release ... what a lovely Christmas present, eh?
Rough plot summary: Tim and Kirstie are a couple hiding out from the IRS with the Amish. The mind boggles as to what JPF is going to be doing.

"Nash Bridges" surpised me this week by running "Wrecking Crew" again ... JPF is, as usual, one of the best things about the show, although he ends up eatng dirt at the end once more. Doesn't the man ever get tired of playing villains who get the crap knocked out of them?

Stop by Devil Woman's page -- she has image galleries beyond your wildest dreams!

    * If anyone happens to know anything more about JPF than is included in this admittedly brief survey of his TV and film appearances -- I'm beginning to wonder whether he was simply beamed down to Earth to brighten the lives of half a dozen people and therefore has no planet (or country) of origin, educational history, marital status, or any of the other varied trivia which we, the obsessed fans, find so fascinating and critical to our continued well-being -- please please PLEASE drop me a line care of Zagthar and I'll update the page forthwith, and probably kiss your feet in the bargain.
