EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I was born in Winter Haven, Florida a few years after the end of World War II. My education began at the tender age of 6 years and has never stopped. I attended the local public schools and graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1965. My first two years of college were completed at Polk Junior College when it was still located at the Bartow Air Base in Bartow, Florida. I received my BA degree in Elementary Education at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL in 1972 and applied for a teaching certificate from the Florida Dept. of Education. I began my teaching career in Lakeland, FL at Combee Elementary School as a third grade teacher. I taught 2nd through the 6th grades as an elementary teacher. Later I went back to USF and took courses to certify me to teach junior high school math. I moved to Lake Gibson Middle School as a computer education teacher and taught computer education classes to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. Next I was hired as the instructional technology specialist at Jewett Middle Academy in Winter Haven. I worked there for four and a half years until January of 2000, when I transferred to Rochelle School of the Arts. I am presently the Technology Specialist at Rochelle in Lakeland, Florida. After about 16 years of stops and starts, I finally graduated from USF with a masters' degree in middle grades curriculum with an emphais in Instructional Technology.

FAMILY

I am single and presently live in Tampa, Florida. I purchased a lovely refurbished bungelow, built in 1923. It is located in a delightful neighborhood and is convenient to almost all business and shopping I need to do in Tampa. I moved from Lakeland, Florida in January 2001, after 20 years of living on the north side of that town. My mother lives in a nearby community and is enjoying her retirement. My middle brother is an MD and JD in Oklahoma and my youngest brother is a vice president of a restaurant chain in north Florida.

PERSONAL

I enjoy telecommunications, photography, reading good books, and spending time with family and friends. I spend time most evenings surfing the net with my Macintosh PowerPC computer, running Mac OS 9.21 and my home-built PC, using an AMD Athlon processor and running WindowsME, replying to e-mail messages, surfing the WEB, doing online chatting, and being with my family.
