| Anna Starr Lewellen was born October 26, 1867 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Elizabeth Lewellen. Elizabeth died when Anna was just four years old, and Joseph remarried Emma Staver. Anna was the eldest child among her brother and sister and seven half-siblings. The family moved to Wells County, Indiana, where Anna met William Gardenour and married him in 1889. In September 1910, Anna, William, and most of their children moved to Newaygo County, Michigan, and lived on a farm at Sitka. Sometime prior to Anna's death in 1949, William and Anna moved to a house at 891 E. Forest Avenue in Muskegon. Anna died January 14, 1949, and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Muskegon, Michigan. | |
