This manual has been created for all those involved with and committed to Community and Adult Education in Florida. Community Education has enjoyed a colorful history, marked first by an effort to establish an identity, and later by an extraordinary capacity for helping individuals achieve personal and lifelong goals. Today, Community Education is helping Florida redefine education. Its concepts and constructs are at the core of what Florida is striving to achieve in creating a seamless educational system. By that definition, Community Education facilitates cooperation and teamwork through parental, community, and corporate involvement for the purpose of building both an educated citizenry and a capable workforce. We hope this manual will serve as a guide in your role as Community and Adult Education leaders, and as advisory council members, since you are in a unique position to help Florida achieve the goals set forth in Blueprint 2000. As education leaders, you are the artisans who can take this master plan and build the bridges, establish the structures, and plot the course for Florida's future. The strategies set forth here are some of the tools that can help you strengthen education.
