Blueprint 2000 mandated that the state schools, advisory councils, and school districts work toward the common goals listed below.
Readiness to Start School: Communities and schools will collaborate to prepare children and families for children's success in school. Graduation Rate and Readiness for Postsecondary Education and Employment: Students will graduate and will be prepared to enter the workplace and postsecondary education. Student Performance: Students will successfully compete at the highest levels nationally and internationally and will be prepared to make well-reasoned, thoughtful, and healthy lifelong decisions. Learning Environment: School boards will provide a learning environment conducive to teaching and learning. School Safety and Environment: Communities will provide an environment that is drug-free and will protect students' health, safety, and civil rights. Teachers and Staff: The schools, districts, and state will ensure professional teachers and staff. Adult Literacy: Adult Floridians will be literate and will have the knowledge and skills needed to compete in a global economy and exercise the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
