Here are a pair of Umbrella Cocatoos (Remember FRED on the old Baretta TV
show?) sitting on the edge of their 'nest box' (a converted galvanized trash
can). The nest box is arranged with a false bottom so that an egg laid in it
will drop into a pile of hay, as these birds have in the past destroyed their
eggs just after laying them.
This bird, a Red Lori, was perfectly tame until we got him a mate. Now he
is as mean as can be.
Sun conures are beautiful birds. Ours gave us our first eggs this spring;
hopefully we will get many more from them. They love peanuts, and come to the
ends of the perch bar to take them from my hand.
