A member of the faculty at the time of Ted's evolving pseudonym wrote into ``The Dartmouth'':


	You're wrong as the deuce
	And you shouldn't rejoice
	If you're calling him Seuss.
	He Pronounces it Soice.
but the traditional German pronunciation had been ignored, and the Americans were less confused if Dr. Seuss rhymed with Mother Goose.
