Ah Social Whirl! A Poem of Protest

In 1986, another big gala as the new Neiman-Marcus opened in San Diego. The Geisels were there, and Ted was his usual unhappy self at the party, finding solace only in the womens shoe department changing prices on every box of Ferragamos and Bruno Maglis he could get his hands on. Later that evening after he vowed not to attend another big party he wrote the Poem of Protest entitled "Ah Social Whirl!"

Oh, to live in San Diego
			and be happy everymore
			and attend the nightly opening
of some brand-new Dry Goods Store!
