wife, mother, friend, lover

On April 6, 1973, this great blue earth was graced with a new presence. Maeve (not her birthname, IRC nick) had been born.

It would take another 14 years until my path would fatefully cross hers. In other words we met each other in high school. We dated for 3.5 years, and were married on July 6, 1991.

I remember the day she told me she was pregnant...one of the clearest days in my lifes memories...and as expected just about 9 months later, on November20, 1993, a 9 pound 9 ounce bologna loaf was put into our possesion.

Now I had seen the Bill Cosby skit he did about wives giving birth, and I had seen plenty of other comedians, both male and female talk about the living hell that labor is. However, Maeve went through aproximatly 24 hours of labor with 5 hours of hard labor, before they decided to do a c-section. Nothing could prepare me for that. I had expected the screaming, name calling, and vulgar promises of genital mutilation, but recieved none it. Maeve was a complete ANGEL during every moment of the ordeal. I dont even like to think about what she went through, and all she did was look out the hospital window at a street light, focus on that light and sigh when the contraction ended. An ANGEL I tell you.

So as of now we have been married 7 years, and together for 11, and we can still say we were high school sweethearts. She still amazes me on a daily basis...
