Marc received a Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University, and a Master's Degree from the University of California at Davis, both in entomology. His Ph.D. is in zoology, from the University of Florida. He has written many scientific and popular articles as well as the books, Florissant Butterflies: A Guide to the Fossil and Present-Day Species of Central Colorado, published by Stanford University Press, and Butterflies of the Florida Keys from Scientific Publishers, Inc.
Marc currently works as a biologist for the St. John's River Water Management District in Palatka, Florida. His job often allows him to be out in the field. He also lectures at schools around the District, including elementary, middle, and high schools in the Alachua County School District.
In his spare time, Marc is writing a book about butterfly gardening in Florida for University Press of Florida. For fun, he collects butterflies, especially skippers. At his home in Gainesville he is developing a butterfly garden using many native plant species.
Marc is married to Maria Minno, and has two children, Ivan (7), and Angie (14). Marc reads to Ivan every night. Angie is writing her autobiography.
