STATEMENT OF INTENT TO REFUSE OBEDIENCE We, the American Citizens who identify ourselves as Radical Pagans, do hereby give notice of our refusal, when deemed necessary, to obey laws which clearly enforce the moral taboos, beliefs, or practices of the Christian religion, especially its fundamentalist, biblical, evangelical, and neo-Puritan forms, in violation of our Constitutionally-protected religious beliefs and practices as Pagans, with peaceful but firm resolve. We do not make this refusal lightly, for we know it is the responsibility of all citizens to obey the democratically-established laws of the land. But the Constitution, which is above all other laws, states that no laws shall be made "respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." Unfortunately, the spirit of this Amendment, which is to protect religions from legal harassment or dissolution, has been circumvented by separating the definition of "religion" from a religion's moral taboos, beliefs, and practices which has been canonized as "public decency," "family values" or "obscentiy." This has allowed laws directly supporting Christian moral precepts to be adapted and enforced on the general population, including those of different religions with different moral precepts. We shall not obey such laws, but we do acknowledge the possibility of legal consequences, and we shall face these with a calm but firm demenor.
