The River AvonAs seen in Bath. The bridge, which has shops lining either side of an uncovered street was built circa 1769. The weir in the lower center of the photo was the most decorative that I saw on my trip, and I consider it morbidly fascinating that--unlike what you would expect to see in the US--it has no warning buoys, strobes, fog horns, fencing, or obvious signage; if you plow your boat into it, too bad. Beautiful, isn't it? |
