During the beginning of 1996, Alachua FreeNet began having numerous problems with its online systems -- and with its counters. It's own counters apparently also caused a number of lockups and data losses and, as a result, I temporarily REM-ed out the counters - thus halting all counts until such time as things improved at the Alachua FreeNet site.
The last known records of the counts before the problems started that I have been able to find are up to January 26, 1996, when the counts for my pages were, at that time:

When things were `fixed' and seemed to be operating normally again, I un-REM-ed the counters again. Not long afterwards, the same problems started popping up again, and AFN began looking for a new counter to use.
Last records that I could find JUST BEFORE Alachua FreeNet removed the old counters also show the following counts, on May 05, 1996:

The counts which you now see on the pages are not actually an EXXAGERATION of the counts (because they are actually far, far, SMALLER than they actually SHOULD be), but ARE missing any accesses to the pages inbetween May 5th, 1996 to August 3, 1996...a three month period.
