Michael Consolo. Nice name, I suppose. I'm kind of used to it
after 29 years of being called by that name, or some variation
thereof. Some people have called me Jay, or J.C. or Jace...but
usually I just prefer to be called by my real name. I am the
recent recipient of a Biology degree from Florida Gulf Coast
University. It has been ten years in the making--my life was bombarded with emotional difficulty starting
in my second year at the University of Florida which made me question what I was working towards
career-wise and made it very difficult to succeed academically. I
took an extended break from college to straighten out my life, and made
my glorious return to academic life two years ago. This degree is,
so far, the crowning achievement of my life.
I was recently hired to teach Chemistry at a local high school, where I will do my best to fill the minds of my students with the love of the scientific process. Before teaching, I used to be employed by Target where I was the supervisor of the Entertainment Department. That basically means that I was responsible for the care and sale of all the music, movies, books and software that my store carried. I liked Target, but I believe that teaching is what I really want to do with the rest of my life. I am a huge music fan, but tend to be very picky in my music tastes. I like indie rock mostly, with some punk, alternative and hard rock thrown in for good tastes. My favorite bands are The Shins, The Islands (and the Unicorns), Of Montreal, The Decemberists and the Smashing Pumpkins. I got married to my beautiful wife, Shelley, on March 23rd, 2002. We built our house in Cape Coral, FL. Shelley teaches American Sign Language at the same school as I will be teaching. We have two dogs, a cat and four fish. Our dogs' names are Derby and Daisy, and they are Italian greyhounds. Zuni is our cat's name, she is all black with orange eyes. She's a Halloween cat! |

| My Web Pages | |||
| As you may have noticed from the index page of this site, this is version 8 of a long line of web pages that I've created. I made available five of the sites that I thought were worth sharing with everyone. Version 1 I no longer have archived on my machine, or I'd put it up to show everyone how far my designs have progressed. I didn't have the foresight back then to think that I'd be designing pages this long. The standard version web sites are all almost identical in content, with just a bunch of new design elements. The artsy ones are attempts by me to be an artist, poet, writer...whatever you will. In creating this site I tried not to dwell so much on the artistic as the functional. I put large amounts of information and content on the index page so that a visitor can just jump to that page and think, "Oh, OK, that's what is new." and move on to more important things in life. Hopefully I can keep everything updated as often as I'd like to. Life, unfortunately, seems to get in the way at times. | |||
