President’s Message
March, 2001

Over the past year you have heard me talk a lot about change. It is a part of our lives and as perioperative nurses every minute. Last month at our monthly staff meeting we were shown a little movie based on the book Who Moved My Cheese ?, by Spencer Johnson, MD. This is a little parable that is filled with several profound truths about change. "When you discover how you respond and deal with change, you can enjoy less stress and more satisfaction in your life" (Johnson, cover). Your saying to yourself, yea, yea what is your point! This year at congress the house of delegates made some tough decisions. Unfortunately, a great number of members are not going to like it and we will probably loose them as members. Remember that the house of delegates voted on what is best for our associations’ survival in the future, and to continue to provide the services that AORN is renowned for.

Change is even effecting our chapter. We are losing two of our key members. Linda Pitman-Koberlein and Stephanie Reitman-Swiss. Both have been offered new positions in Jacksonville and will be moving and changing chapters. These two women have volunteered a good portion of their time to Chapter 1016, by serving as committee chairs, officers, and each have even served as president. It is with regret that I accept their resignations from their current positions. Linda as research chair and Stephanie as treasurer/legislative chair. Good luck to them both.
