The season of giving is upon us!

I hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and what other Holiday that you may celebrate! Most of us are employed, have happy home lives and will celebrate with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. But , there are people out there that are not as gifted as we are. In light of this, the board of directors has made a donation to the Rape & Domestic Violence Shelter in Ocala. We sent toys, clothes, and a monetary donation, to help those who would have had nothing. We also made this an annual event. Each year we will select a different charity/shelter/home to support. In 2001, we will select one in Gainesville. Each year a different city and charity will be chosen by the board of directors. As members you can send in the names of LOCAL charities/shelter/homes to support.

The board of directors is also giving to AORN and our own members. This year with AORN Foundation's every member campaign, the foundation is asking every member to give $10.00. The chapter will match any $5.00 donation that a member makes. If you are interested please send in your donation to Stephanie Reitman-Swiss or give to any board member and they will see that she gets it. Note: We cannot match any donation sent to the Foundation directly. As always you are welcome to give more on your own.

The chapter has also started a scholarship program for our chapter members. We will be giving away two annual memberships to AORN for any one who wants to join. All you need to do is write a letter to the board explaining why you want to join and why you need the scholarship.
