Minutes of the September Meeting

 

Program:  The program presented was “Why are my patients waking up with …. Or, not waking up?”. The speaker was Anita Turner, CRNA. Thank you to Anita and West Marion Community Hospital for hosting the meeting.

 

Business Meeting: Meeting was called to order at 1915 by President Justine Busch. The president thanked Anita and WMCH.

 

Approval of prior meeting minutes:  Minutes from the prior meeting were approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report: $5,588.40.

 

Committee Reports:

Golf outing: Chandler Hills vs Country Club of Ocala – Libby to check out which club would be the best course for the 2007 Golf Fundraiser.

 

FCORN meeting: October 20-22 at the Trade Winds at St. Petersburg Beach, Florida.

 

National Board Meeting:  Discussion held to invite a national speaker. The meeting will be a Saturday morning meeting and is currently scheduled for January 12, 2007. Photos of chapter members are needed.

 

Other old business: Meetings for September, October and November are going to start at 1830 with the speaker for the meeting being first, business meetings to follow. In October, the meeting will be held at the VA in Gainesville.

 

New Business: Need volunteers for AORN Congress which is in Orlando this coming year. In addition, is anyone from the chapter interested in forming a team and participating in the Quiz Bowl? If you have any interest in either contact Justine. She will put you in contact with the appropriate people.

Also, there was discussion about selling scarves or t-shirts as a fundraiser for our chapter during Congress. TNT graphics would be the place for the t-shirts. Concern was expressed about selling scarves since this might be in conflict with the orange scarves FCORN sells. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.

Jim Shelley suggested a joint venture meeting with Leesburg/Orlando and the Villages geared directly at education. It was decided to table this for this upcoming year as we have congress in Orlando0.
