Minutes of the January 19, 2006 Meeting

 

Program:  The program presented was on “Pulmonary Embolism”. The speaker was Sandra Hemingway from the Veterans Hospital. This program material was not only educational in nature, but presented from a patient’s point of view.

 

Business Meeting:  Meeting was called to order at 2015 by President Kathy Brown. The president thanked the VA hosting the meeting, and Sandra for a very informative and interesting presentation.

Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes:  Minutes from the prior meeting were approved.

 

Treasurers’ Report: Report submitted. November balance was $5839.88 and December balance was $6146.49.

 

Old Business: President Brown read a letter from the Domestic Violence Center thanking the Chapter for the donations and support of a family at Christmas.

 

There was discussion on AORN Congress regarding who may be attending as well as the possibility that the March meeting may need to be moved since it will be too close to the Congress meeting. At this time, Kathy, Jim, and Tom will be attending the entire Congress. Linda will be attending part of it and Justine may be attending. Delegates are needed to represent our Chapter.

 

The Florida Council meeting, which is to be hosted by the Gainesville Chapter, was discussed. It was decided to establish a Committee to coordinate the meeting, which will be in July of this year. That committee will be chaired by Jim Shelley. The Committee will also have Kathy Brown, Sally Moore and Sarah Logue. Other volunteers will be needed to make the meeting a success. The first meeting will be held at Sally Moore’s house on Sunday Jan. 22 at 3:00pm. The committee will then report back to the members.

The next meeting will be held in Ocala at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Check the website for meeting time and exact location in the Medical Center.
