AORN Meeting 02/17/2000

Meeting was called to order by P. Stewart at 2005

Minutes from January, 2000 meeting approved as printed in newsletter.

Financial report: checking- $4619.29 savings- $2622.75

Committee reports:

A. Membership/Education - T.Macheski reported 127 members. Next meeting is to be held at the Surgery Center in Ocala.

B. Legislative - No report

C. Research - Linda Pittman nothing to report.

D. Nominating - No report

E. Newsletter - Nan has new e-mail address nlh0349@email.msn.com

F. Web page - No report

G. Historian - C. Bergstraesser nothing to report.

Unfinished business

A. T-Shirts- No report. Four shirts sold at surgery center.

B. President's award- Our chapter has won an award which will be presented at the 2000 AORN Awards dinner. AORN did send money to reimburse 1 person. Info on purchasing tickets was handed out.

C. Chapter challenge- letter received of receipt of donation.

D. Student nurse membership - T.Macheski reported letters will be mailed by 2/23/00.

E. Donations will be taken at each meeting for Habitat for Humanity. Each hospital is encouraged to participate at individual hospital.

F. Ambassador information- No report

G. Mentoring Program - E.Hoffman is awaiting list.

H. Installation Dinner - No Report

New Business

A. Golf tournament in G'ville. - C.Bergstraesser, L.Pittman, C.Tioga, & T.Macheski will organize it.

B. AORN 2001 Awards packet - Criteria will be placed in newsletter.

C. Needs Assessment forms must be submitted by March 20, 2000.

D. Delgate information packets handed out. Meeting of delegates and alternates to be held at 1800 at Ocala Surgery Center prior to March meeting. Candidate info will be printed in newsletter, members are urged to read and give feedback to chapter delegates on how they wish them to vote.

E. National would like each chapter to have a policy concerning the election of officers. T.Macheski, W.Williams and S. Moore will form a policy.

F. Form letters are available to send to legislature for Medicare legislation concerning CRNFA's. There is someone in legislature who will sponsor it.

G. Members are encouraged to invite their legislator into the OR.

H. Video from national was shown.

I. P.Stewart attended chapter meeting in Orlando.Speaker was Susan Kleinbeck who has written and article in AORN journal on Universal Perioperative Documentation. She will be a speaker at congress.

J. End of month chapter reports handed out.
