APRIL 2005 BOARD
MINUTES

GOLF TOURNAMENT
Teams
are beginning to sign up. We have 11 as
of this date. We also have 9 committed
sponsors. Prizes are also being donated
and more are being sought. Mulligans will be sold at the tournament for $5 each/ 2 per
person. The club will charge $2 per
person for the drink cart. Our members
will tend the cart and the chapter will purchase the beverages to be sold. Food will be purchase for a post-tournament snack. There will also be snacks at the “turn”.

CONGRESS REPORT:
Linda Sigsby: Linda attended Congress as a
delegate and also as a representative
Of nursing education. She spend time with the 192 high school
students who
Were invited to Congress.
Kathy Brown: Kathy attended Congress as a delegate. She walked in the
opening
Session with all the chapter presidents. She
reported that a national time-out day
Will be done again this June. Dr.O’Leary,
President of JCAHO was a keynote
Speaker and was asked by the AORN members to present to JCAHO the
Recommendation that a RN be the circulator in the OR. National has requested
That the yearly dues be raised to $100, with $20going to the local
chapters
Instead of $15.
If a member attends Congress, that $100 will be put towards the
Registration fee. AORN goal for 2005-2006 is that every member get one RN
To join the organization.
Sara Bish:
Sara attended Congress as an independent and reported on the
Presentation on the designing of operating rooms with Sloan Ketterling
Hospital.
Sally Moore: Sally attended as an
alternate delegate. She spent most of
her
Session time attending management sessions. She reported that after July 1,
2005 JCAHO will not announce inspections but will come at will. Employees
will also be subject to direct contact with the
inspectors. An employee may
also contact JCAHO with concerns.
Marianne Lonergan: Marianne attended Congress as a
delegate. Most of her
Sessions were with the House of Delegates and candidate forums. She reported
On the position papers passed by the delegates concerning regulated
overtime or
Time worked past 12 hrs.,& entry level
education for RNs.
