NEW BUSINESS:

The locations for the chapter meetings for the year 2003-2004 were established. The following locations were determined:

October 16, 2003 Shands Ayers Surgical Center, Gainsville

November 20, 2003 Surgical Center of Ocala

December, 2003 No official meeting. Each area will determine their own activity.

January 15, 2004 Shands @ UF, Gainsville

February 19, 2004 Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala (HIV Program)

March 11, 2004 VA Hospital, Gainsville

April 15, 2004 West Marion Medical Center, Ocala

May 20, 2004 Tentative: Ayer Surgical Center in Gainsville or Ocala Regional

Medical Center

June 17,2004 Installation Dinner, location to be announced.

A reminder for the FCORN meeting October 17-19^th in Gainsville. A meeting on Oct, 5^th at Sally Moores’ will be held to finish coordinating plans and pack food baskets and stuff packets.

Surgical product representatives who wish to display at FCORN may contact Tom Macheski. The fee is $150 per table.

We need ideas for fund raisers.

We need a more active membership. It was suggested that mailings about the meetings would help.

Golf tournament: location TBA. A tentative date is February 21,2004.

SEPTEMBER MEETING

Meeting called to order at 1900 by Jim Shelley, President.

TREASURERS REPORT: checking accouont $$2988.26, savings account $2645.59.

BUSINESS:

Speaker for the evening was Dr. Gene Turner, Anesthesiologist, who spoke on "Interoperative Thermal Regulation" of the OR patient.

The schedule of meeting locations for the 2003-2004 year was presented to the chapter:

Nov.20, 2003 Surgery Center of Ocala

Dec. 2003 No meeting, Each area will conduct their own holiday session.

From National: AORN has experienced decreased membership nationally. A 10 to 15% decrease is typical.

Marianne Lonergan has volunteer to be the chapter historian. We would appreciate any news of accomplishments, awards or offices held.

November 9-15^th is Perioperative Nurses Week. What is YOUR hospital doing?

FCORN meeting in Gainsville Oct. 17-19^th. May attend only one session if you prefer.
