PROGRAM: Brenda Jones, Director of the Emergency Department at West Marion Hospital presented Promoting a Culture of Patient Safety.

BUSINESS MEETING: was held at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Wes Williams called the meeting to order at 8:10 PM. Wes thanked Ocala Regional Medical Center for hosting the meeting.

NEW ATTENDEES: there were no new attendees.

TREASURER’S report: Eileen Nogueiras reported the chapter golf tournament made $3,702.90. The chapter has $7,984.11 in the checking, and $2,697.35 in the savings. The treasurer’s report was filed as read.

QUORUM: a quorum was present.

MINUTES: all minutes were approved as posted on the chapter web site.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: deferred.

SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS: deferred.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS: no report.

• Golf Tournament: Pat Stewart reported she has sent out thank you letters to everyone except for All Sports, and Shands Perfusion. Sally Moore said she will try to locate the address for All Sports, and Tom Macheski said a thank you letter does not need to be sent to Shands Perfusion at this time.

• Candle Fundraiser: Justine Busch asked the members if they would be interested in a spring candle sale. It was discussed, and several members expressed interest in a sale. Justine would see if the company had a new order form for spring.

• Chapter Christmas family: Pat Stewart thanked the members for their generosity for the family the chapter adopted at Christmas, at the spouse abuse center in Ocala. She reported each of the four children received gifts as well as their mother. Wes reported the chapter also provided Christmas presents for a family in Gainesville who is also at a spouse abuse shelter.

• FCORN: Nan Hanauer reported that the FCORN fall seminar would be held on October 17,18 and 19, 2003 in Gainesville. The registration will be $75.00. Justine Busch is in charge of registration. Her committee members are Sally Moore, Kathy Brown, Bonnie Tobias, and Pat Stewart. Eileen Nogueiras volunteered to be in charge of the food for the seminar. Pat Stewart suggested that Michael Wesolowski and Brenda Jones to asked to be speakers at the seminar, which was agreed by the chapter members present. Pat Stewart will contact Michael Wesolowski, and Sally Moore will contact Brenda Jones.

• CONGRESS: The chapter delegates are Kathy Brown, Linda Sigsby, Nan Hanauer, Tom Macheski, and Wes Williams. The chapter alternates are Sally Moore, and Terry Glover. Eileen Nogueiras will mail the congress registrations tomorrow.

NEW BUSINESS: Justine Busch has volunteered to be editor of the chapter newsletter for the remaining of the chapter’s business year, June 2003.

CLINICAL ISSUES: none

PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: none

NEXT MEETING: will be held on February 20, 2003 at the VA hospital in Gainesville.

ADJOURNMENT: the meeting was adjourned by general consent at 8:55 PM.
