APRIL BOARD MEETING

April 11, 2002

Meeting was called to order by Jim Shelley, at 6:30 PM, at the Olive Garden restaurant, Ocala, Florida.

PRESENT: Jim Shelley, Patricia Stewart, Marion Norris, and Eileen Nogueiras.

IN ATTENDANCE: Nan Hanauer, and Sally Moore.

QUORUM: Present.

DISCUSSION:

• Chapter Elections: Nan Hanauer presented the chapter positions that will be on the ballot for 2002-2003. The positions are president-elect, treasurer, 2 positions on the board of directors, and 2 positions on the nominating committee. Nan Hanauer will submit a ballot to Jim Shelley by Wednesday, April 17, 2002. Jim Shelley will phone the Executive committee for approval. The ballot will then be presented at the April’s business meeting. Jim Shelley will contact Tom Macheski for mailing labels. Tom Macheski will mail the labels to Sally Moore, who will then mail the ballots to the chapter members.

• Fund Raisers: Marion Norris said she would like to see the chapter do a casino night as a fundraiser. Pat Stewart said she would see if other chapters have done this as a fundraiser by posting the question on Membertalk and the Perioperative list serve. Jim Shelley stated he would like to see the chapter also plan another golf tournament. He will contact reps at congress.

• Congress, 2003: Sally Moore suggested the Oprah Winfrey show be contacted to see if they would be interested in doing a show about "Every Patient Deserves a Perioperative Nurse", during the 2003 Congress in Chicago. The board agreed the chapter should proceed with the suggestion. Eileen Nogueiras stated she would contact the Ophra Winphry show by email, and Jim Shelley would write to national with the idea.

The Chair adjourned the meeting at 8:00PM.

PROGRAM: Kevin Register, District Manager, Augustine Medical, presented Perioperative Hypothermia: The Importance of Maintaining Normothermia.

BUSINESS MEETING: was held at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Florida.

QUORUM: not present, the business meeting was not held.
