PROGRAM: Linda Sigsby, RN presented A Knowledge of Baccalaureate Nursing Students: Perioperative versus other Clinical Experiences.

BUSINESS MEETING: was held at Shands at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. The meeting was called to order by Jim Shelley at 8:10 PM. Jim thanked Shands at the University of Florida, College of Nursing for hosting this month’s meeting. Linda Sigsby provided refreshments for this month’s meeting.

QUORUM: not present

NEW ATTENDEES: no new attendees.

MINUTES: deferred.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Eileen Nogueiras not present.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: There were no standing committee reports.

• AORN Congress: Tom Macheski announced that the FCORN would hold their Congress meeting on April 21, 2002 at 7:00 PM.

• April meeting was changed to April 11, 2002 because of Congress.

• Jim Shelley read information from National.

CLINICAL ISSUES: Jim Shelley asked how other area hospitals transport patients to PACU. Teaching hospital uses residents to transport the patient, and the RN calls report to PACU. In other hospitals the RN is usually with the patient. No one uses aides to transport the patient to PACU.

PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: none presented.
