September Board Meeting and Chapter Meeting

Minutes

September 15th, 2001

The Chapter 1016 Board Meeting was called to order by Jim Shelley at 12:29 P.M. at the Olive Garden Restaurant in Ocala, Florida.

PRESENT: Jim Shelley, Nan Hanauer, Eileen Nogueiras, Patricia Stewart, and Linda Sigsby.

ABSENT Wes Williams, Tom Macheski, and Marian Norris.

IN ATTENDANCE: Virginia Nelson.

QUORUM: Present

DISCUSSION:

1. Linda Sigsby told the board that she has a new email address: LMSigsby@nursing.ufl.edu
2. Nan Hanauer stated her home phone number is 288-8228, and her pager is 506-4191
3. Eileen Nogueiras stated the chapter has $6,124.27 in the checking as of September 6, 2001. The chapter made $670.00 on the seminar.
4. L. Sigsby informed the board that the results of students in the perioperative area scored better in a questionnaire than other students who did not go through the peripoperative setting. She will be presenting this information at the 2001 NLN Summit Meeting. The Board voted to have L. Sisgby present this information at the March Chapter Meeting. P. Stewart suggested that we invite the CFCC Nursing Instructors to this meeting.
5. L. Sigsby announced that Connie Alford, a student nurse in her senior year at the University of Florida has received an AORN Scholarship.
6. N. Hanauer reported that a site for the chapter golf tournament has not been chosen. She should have the information this week

SEPTEMBER BUSINESS MEETING

September 20, 2001

PROGRAM: Nan Hanauer RN, BS, CNOR presented "Surviving the First Year."

BUSINESS MEETING: was held at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Florida, and called to order by President Jim Shelley at 8:18 PM. Jim Shelley thanked MRMC for hosting this meeting.

QUORUM: 17 members were in attendance. A quorum was present.

NEW ATTENDEES: Jim Shelley asked anyone attending the chapter meeting for the first time to stand and be recognized. Those attending for the first time were Pat Valentine, RN from MRMC, Jennifer Waters, RN from MRMC, Sandra Bianco [527-2760] from Health South, Jenny Luciano [352-307-0595] from Health South, and Barbara Autrey from MRMC.

MINUTES: Deferred

TREASUER’S REPORT: Eileen Nogueiras, Treasurer, reported that the chapter checking account had $6449.27. The chapter made $645.00 from the fall seminar, and $110.00 from T-shirt sales.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Nan Hanauer presented a wrap up of the Hill-Rom Seminar.

NEW BUSINESS:

• Nan Hanauer said the chapter golf tournament would be held on November, 10,2001 at the Ocala Palms Golf Club in Ocala, Florida.
• Jim Shelley read correspondence from National.
• Sally Moore volunteered to be the Member Ambassador for Ocala Regional Medical Center.
• Sally Moore stated the February business meeting will be held at Ocala Regional Medical Center and the presentation will be on Bair Hugger blankets.
• Marion Norris volunteered to have the April meeting at the Ocala Surgical Center.
• Perioperative Nurse Week will be held November 11-17, 2001.
• Next month’s meeting will be held October 18, 2001 in Gainesville. The location has yet to be determined.

CLINICAL ISSUES: none discussed

PROFESSIONAL OPPORUNITIES: none discussed.

ADJOURNMENT: the meeting was adjourned by general consent at 8:50 PM.
