Pitney Bowes - Global Mailing Systems
Provided enterprise solutions in mail center management, mail creation databases, and delivery logistics. Integrated with customer business critical mail generation applications. The small package software was capable of simultaneously shipping with FedEx, DHL, UPS, and USPS from a single terminal, allowing increased flexibility and removing bottlenecks to delivery. Address cleansing of mailing addresses were used to prevent sending to invalid addresses, and presorting to reduce postage costs. Logistics of LTL shipping, hundredweight consolidation and EDI transactions could also be done. Programming in Visual Fox Pro and Visual Basic. Database manipulation in SQL and Access.
Esoterix Allergy Testing Laboratory
Managed corporate consolidation of Allergy Testing division. Including MS Exchange 4.5 email migration, and WAN links to headquarters through fractional T1 line. Also wrote programs to import test results into MS SQL Server 7 and transfer data to corporate Oracle database. Project leader on re-write of DOS based LIS (Laboratory Information System) into Windows. Wrote HTML documentation on upgraded components. Instituted source code version control system (PVCS) and change request system. In charge of software QA component, integration, and unit testing Windows NT/2000 and TCP/IP network administration. Programming in Clarion DOS and Windows, SQL scripting.
Worked on a project to port a Clarion DOS database to Clarion for Windows. Developed our technical support intranet for internal use of our support staff, and assisted in creation of the corporate website. Also wrote Procomm Aspect scripts for routine telecommunications. Supported customers on configuration of our industry leading pager radio tower control communications software.
Supported customers on configuration of high-end (15-25k) software ,while training and assisting five other technicians. I learned Clarion (on my own time), so that when they wanted another programmer I was prepared.
Onsite Environmental, Miramar FL
Analysis of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds using gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS).
U.F. Department of Environmental Sciences, Gainesville FL
Analysis of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds using gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS). Work study assistant for graduate students in water chemistry, then Research assistant in the Environmental Science Department GC/MS laboratory. . I was responsible for calibrating and analysis using a Perkin Elmore 8500 GC/ITD, and Hewlett Packard 5985 GC/MS. I performed and trained other students in soil (EPA methods 8260 and 8270), water (methods 624 and 625), and air (methods TO-1 and 5040) procedures.
M.E., Environmental Engineering (1993) From the University of Florida
Specialized in air pollution control. My research was published in "Atmospheric Deposition Studies in Rural Forested Areas of the Southeastern United States," by Dr. Eric R. Allen, Norman Cabrera, and Jo-Chun Kim. The Journal of the Air and Waste Management Association, 80th annual meeting June 19-24, 1994. My project was writing two C programs (10 and 15k lines) that implemented a published EPA model. I ran the model on one year of minute sampled and hourly averaged atmospheric data, and presented statistical analysis of the output.
B.S., Mechanical Engineering (1991) From the University of Florida
I took a Basic programming class (on a VAX cluster) in 1986, and a Fortran class in 1988. I first programmed in C for a 1990 robotics class, and later (1992) took a C/C++ class.
A full range of scientific laboratory procedures, from analytical glassware washing, to advanced modern GC/MS equipment. Computer programming in Access/Visual Basic, C/C++, Clarion for Windows, Java, and Fortran. Also practical knowledge of PC maintenance, and network installation.
