Lazarus ran away from home at an early age as he could not get along with his step-father. He married Riler RUARK 26 Aug 1894, she died soon after. He is said to have carried her picture in his wallet long after he married my grandmother, Sarah (Sallie) Elizabeth MADISON, 14 Oct 1896 in Hopkins Co. Lazarus and Sallie had three children including my grandfather William Edgar POWELL.  We have found them in the 1910 Hopkins County Census living on Pleasantview Road next door to his LYNCH half brother and sisters.

            William Edgar married Ona Ada CLAYTON 20 Sept 1918. She was only 13 at the time. They had 4 children. One of which was my dad, James Edward POWELL born 21 Sept. 1925. They moved to Evansville, Indiana about 1930 to find work. Dad served in World War II and after a failed early marriage went to Florida, where his brother was already living. William Edgar and Ona followed their sons to Florida in the late 1950s.
