Our earliest documented MADISON is James MADISON, born 28 January 1809
in Granville County, North Carolina. We believe his father was a Peyton
MADISON, but records are inconclusive. James married Phoebe Forsythe, born
16 March 1822 in Granville County, North Carolina. The family moved to
Hopkins County, Kentucky between 1852 and 1855.
John W. MADISON, born 1849 in Granville County, was the fourth of eleven
children born to John and Phoebe. John married Martha Elizabeth HIBBS,
born 1852 in Kentucky, on 19 september 1866 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.
