Our
earliest BOYD was John BOYD born 21 November 1740 in Ballymena, Ireland.
John married Jane BARNARDOE about 1776. They emigrated to South Carolina
after son, Nathan, was born in 1769. Nathan married Elizabeth TYGART, born
1770 in Ireland, about 1790.
Nathan and Elizabeth had ten children. One of the sons, Mark Moore BOYD,
born 04 February 1806 in Newberry, South Carolina, married Elizabeth EPTING,
born 28 February 1813 in South Carolina, on the 29th of January 1832. They
had nine children. Their fourth son Mordecai Jones BOYD was born 08 June
1840 in Newberry, South Carolina. Mordecai married Maggie STONE and they
had five children. Their daughter, Mary Myrtle BOYD, born 22 November 1875,
married George Briggs REYNOLDS, born 02 February in Edgefield County, South
Carolina and connected our BOYD line to our REYNOLDS line.
