I'm not one for the long editorials about a highly intellectual Quake topics (is that an oxymoron?) that most other people post. So I'm just gonna throw around some random stuff - comments, observations, complaints, anecdotes, or whatever other twisted shit pops into my head as I write.

First, let me take this time to say:

GO GATORS!!!!!

The Florida Gators upset the #7 ranked Kentucky Wildcats in Kentucky on Sunday 86-78. Can't wait until next year, when the top recruited class dons the Orange and Blue and kicks some SERIOUS ASS. But I digress.

A few comments on MDF's "Gaming Idiots." Surprisingly, he left out CAMPING as a sign of Gaming Idiocy. But let's get beyond that - overall, he's right. Although it should be pointed out that these people are few and far between, at least if my experience counts for anything. Even more annoying and kill-worthy than the run-of-the-mill egotistical shit-heads are the morons who find what they think is the funniest phrase in the world (usually something to the effect of "Hehehehehe") and repeat it a few dozen times whenever they kill someone or die. Unfortunately, if you kill them (which normally isn't a very difficult task), they simply start spitting out that damn nonsense again. So you end up just dealing with it, assured by the knowledge that you can step on him whenever you please.

I just recently abandoned my mouse in favor of my Sidewinder 3D Pro. Now, before you judge me, let me assure you that I am not going to give you some diatribe on how the joystick is better than the mouse - I'm not. If you like the mouse, keep using it. Hell, we have a guy here that plays with just the keyboard (of course, he owns a Mac, so his mental state is always in question). I didn't switch to the joystick because it looks cool, or because it has better control. In fact, I think the mouse has somewhat better control when it comes to precision aiming. I switched for one simple reason. Mouse: 2 buttons; Joystick: 8 buttons + 4 way hat switch. That's it - I needed to be able to have more commands at my fingertips than I could get w/ the mouse. If I had, say, a Flightstick (what kind of schmuck would use that for a 1st person shooter?), I'd still be using the mouse. So now instead of fire and jump on the mouse, I have fire, jump, duck, strafe left/right, sniper, and prev/next weapon all on the top of my Sidewinder - I don't even use the bottom four buttons.

Well, I'm sure that right about now you're saying "How much longer is this fucker going to babble on?" Fear not - I am done (for now).
