It has been a little over a week since I've been to the airport. The last time was when I took that quiz. I knew that I hadn't done all that well, but today was my the day of reckoning for me. After Paul and I had graded it, I ended up missing 12 out of 50 questions. That's right, I got a 76%. Woohoo!

After we went over the quiz, we went up in 94662. We didn't really have anything planned to work on, so we did some stalls, worked on some instrumental training. Basically, I just got some flying time today for familiarization - much needed familiarization.

I didn't help myself get any closer to soloing today. We were up doing stalls, and Paul throws in "your engine just died" and pulled the throttle to idle. He was having me practice emergency maneuvers. Well, I didn't do that well, as we had gone over the stuff once and it was a while ago.

You may be thinking 'This boy is going to fly around above me and he is playing down the fact that he should be able to handle an emergency.' It isn't that at all. I'm all about learning how to recover from an emergency situation; and I will not responsibly let myself solo or earn my license without kowing that and MUCH MUCH more.

So, besides that, we did some stall recoveries. I was very reluctant to perform a power-on stall because of what the book said about them. They strongly warned the student pilot about being sure you are coordinated when performing a power-on stall, also for a power-off stall, but to less of an extent. Being uncoordinated in a stall will result in a spin. For this reason, I would bail out of the power-on stalls before they developed. I didn't have so much of a problem with the power-off stalls, though....

Anyway, after the flying part of the lesson I went back upstairs and retook that quiz. I think I aced it this time.
