Educational Foundation Mission Statement

 

The AAUW Educational Foundation provides funds to advance education, research and self-development for women and to foster equity and positive societal change.

 

 

Legal Advocacy Fund Mission Statement

 

The AAUW’s Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sexual discrimination.

Membership and Dues

Gainesville branch members pay $67 per year: $45 to National, $10 to State, and $12 to the branch. Checks should be made payable to AAUW and forwarded to the Finance Director [treasurer]. Dues are due at the April annual meeting. Dues must be paid by July 1 to have one’s name in the yearbook.

September 8 (Saturday) 10:00:noon Branch Meeting:
10 a.m., with refreshments and socializing.
Program at 10:30, with business meeting to follow.
Place: D'Acosta House, 703 NE 1st St., home of the
Alachua County Housing Authority. Parking is available on the
adjacent lot and on the street.
Speaker: Elizabeth Anne Yeager, Ph.D., Professor,
Social Studies Education, University of Florida, Issues and Challenges in Civic Education (the new legislative mandate to teach civics, Senator Graham involvement and initiatives, her work with him, and her research and teaching in the area of civic education).

        Topic: Global Warming and the Coal-Fired Plant, with speaker  Pam Carpenter, Supervisor of Elections.   Topic: Women in Politics and the Early Florida Primary.
