MIDN 1/C David M. Werner (Navy)

"I came to the University of Florida Navy-Marine ROTC unit in August 1993. Before that, I was enlisted in the Navy for 3 years. I was an AME3 (Aviation Structural Mechanic - Egress, Petty Officer 3rd Class) in a P-3 squadron, VP-93 Executioners, stationed out of NAF Detroit at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Mt. Clements, MI. I pledged for Scabbard and Blade during the Spring semester 1995 and was initiated into the Society at the end of that semester. My current billet in the Navy battalion is Alpha Company Commander. I am majoring in Mathematics and expect to graduate and receive my commission on Dec. 21, 1996. I'm hoping to be selected for naval aviation as a pilot when my service selection results come back around November. If I get my first choice, I'll go from here to NAS Pensacola, FL where I'll receive my initial flight training. I hope to be selected for jets during flight school. I plan on earning my gold pilot wings and making a career out of being a Naval Officer."
