Local CGI Services
This page collects information on various CGI services that are
available to AFN users.
Email Access
You can receive both structured and unstructured email from folks
surfing the web by using the new f2m
(for "form 2 mail") program. The program allows you to build simple
email response forms or more complex feedback and survey forms.
Complete documentation is available.
This new version replaces the older
cgimail and
form2mail programs. We strongly
encourage users of these older programs to update to the newer version of
f2m.
Imagemaps
Our server has the new imagemap program that supports appending the
pathname to the map file at the end of the imagemap program URL. You
can use the normal tilde ("~") conventions to refer to your
~/public_html/ directory in specifying the map file.
Here is a
tutorial on imagemaps.
Counters
Alachua Freenet supplies users with access to a basic webpage counter CGI
to have a graphical display of the number of visitors of the webpage. You
can read a detailed document on how to setup counters.
Please note that AFN strongly discourages the use of
counters in webpages as it produces an unnecessary strain on our web
server, and ultimately are not an accurate indication of webpage access.
AFN may choose to discontinue this counter service in the future without
notice.
CGI Programs
User-supplied CGI programs are not allowed on the AFN WWW server.
