I. INTRODUCTION

If you are an Information Provider for the Alachua Free-Net, you will eventually need to create a menu to display the information you're providing. (For now, most Freenet users do not have access to graphical web browsers, and therefore rely on the (plain dialup) Menus to find your information.)

This is a relatively easy task and can be accomplished by following the steps listed below.

These instructions are based on the assumption that you already have an organizational account as an Information Provider.

The menu being created in this example will be newmenu.

II. Instructions for creating a menu space

  1. Access the Information Supplier Tools (Menu = infosup) by typing infosup at any menu, then pressing the <Enter> key.

  2. Choose Create Menu Space (#4) from the Information Supplier Tools Menu.
Enter the name of the menu you wish to create ("newmenu" is used here as an example).

Note: If you haven't already created your .list file, and don't know how, click on the next button: Format of ".list" files (The steps to follow when your .list file is ready are repeated in that file, and also below in a little more detail.)

  3. Choose Home Directory File Services (#5) from the Local Free-Net Services Menu.

  4. Choose Change to Subdirectory (#9) from the Home Directory File Services Menu and enter the name of the directory (newmenu) which was created for you in step #1 above.

  5. Choose Upload File (#6) from the Home Directory File Services Menu.
Enter the file name followed by .list at the prompt "File name to upload" (e.g., newmenu.list).
    Follow the prompts and instructions.

  6. Choose List files (#1) from the Home Directory File Services Menu to make sure the file (newmenu.list) has been uploaded properly.

  7. Choose Change to Home Directory (#10) from the Home Directory File Services Menu .

  8. If you have another menu to upload, go back to instruction number 2.

  9. When you have finished uploading all the menus, send e-mail to username newsupplier@afn.org stating the menu(s) that have been uploaded and request that these menus be activated.
