    MEETING NEWS

Quaker Study Group: We gathered at Jeannie and Phil Buskirk's house on Friday, January 25th to discuss possible topics and resources for study during 2002. Here is what we came up with:

    - - Connie Ray

We welcome our new attendees: William Maloney, David Tomlin, Jodie Binks and her son, Colin Wolff, Michelle Gould, Bill Stephenson, Dolores Koenig, and Marilyn Muller. We feel blessed by your presence.

A message from the Friends Committee on National Legislation: Attention Friends, Your Senator or Representative sits on either the Armed Services Committee or the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee. As we look ahead, we foresee needing to get in touch with you quickly for important legislative action throughout the second session of the 107th Congress. If you would like to participate, please send your most updated e-mail address to us at Field@FCNL.org with "E-mail Update" in the subject line. Please put your name and postal address in the body of the message. We look forward to a successful Spring of legislative action and hope that you will be able to join with FCNL in influencing the direction of legislation. Thanks for your involvement!

From the First Day School committee: We ask that you not use the door leading outside because it may disturb the young children when someone comes through unexpectedly, and also because it is hard on our new rug - as Morrie says, "not a prayer-rug but an answer to a prayer rug!"

Calling all angels: we would like to have dessert/salad plates to match the beautiful white dinner plates donated by Jeannie Buskirk for our kitchen.

The Gainesville Sun featured an article and picture of Arnold Von der Porten at a tea given by the Rock Creek Homeowners Association in honor of his service to their community. A Renaissance man, he has published a book, illustrated with his own sketches, he teaches art to a class of Japanese students, and he is an officer in the German American Society.

Calling all books. If you are borrowed from our library please come home. We miss you!

Congratulations, Annie McPherson and David on your marriage. The wedding was a joyous celebration with Quakers from around the state, the extended families of the bride and groom, a bountiful buffet and lots of music and dancing. We thank you for sharing your special day with us.
