QUERIES for the Fourth Month: UNITY WITHIN THE MEETING

CALENDAR NOTES

  • 12:30 p.m. Bring finger food to share for lunch.
  • 1:00 p.m. Annie McPherson and David Cook will entertain us with music and song.
  • 2:00 p.m. FCUN
  • 3:00 p.m. Nature Walk at the new building site, led by Phil Buskirk and Bill Mitchell.
  • 5:00 p.m. Stone Soup and Salad Bar. The stone Soup will be started in a crock-pot in the morning and left to cook during the Chain of Prayer activities. If you are going to be on time for the stone-soup making, bring vegetables for the soup. If you're going to be a little late, bring salad. If you're going to be later still, bring a desert!

Rather than continue adopting a "Christmas" family each year our meeting has, for the last few years, chosen a "Day of Prayer" family. Our family this year is the Romeros. Rosie Romero is a cute little girl with cerebral palsy (picture is posted in the kitchen). The mother is mentally ill and the father is the caretaker. Needed items:

On April 7, we would like to gather the gifts (unwrapped gifts or money to apply toward the special shoes or the car repairs or the electric bill). For further information please call Laura at 372-3972.

    Quaker Study Group

The meeting at the Buskirks this month will continue our study of Howard Thurman. We will focus on his Mysticism and the Experience of Love, a Pendle Hill Pamphlet which is available at the Meetinghouse on the back table. Sybil Brennan will lead the discussion and teach us another form of worship sharing. Come on out for an evening of good food, spiritual deepening and fellowship!

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying,
This is the way, walk ye in it,
when ye turn to the right hand,
and when ye turn to the left.
    Isaiah 30:21

At the American Friends Service Committee website, http://www.afsc.org/nero/pesp/bushwar.htm, is a transcript of an excellent talk by Joseph Gerson titled Bush's War: Where Is It Going and What Should We Do About It. It's a good review of major actions taken by the Bush Administration and offers some worthwhile action suggestions.
