Florida has one of the highest rates of HIV infection in
the United States.
July '97 when name reporting began in Florida through
February '98, four thousand one hundred twenty-three
people have been reported as infected with HIV. This
means that approximately one in 172 people in
Florida are estimated to be HIV positive.

NCFAN serves 16 counties in north central Florida:
Alachua, Bradford, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist,
Hamilton, Hernando, Lafayette, Lake, Levy, Marion,
Putnam, Sumter, Suwanee and Union counties.

not-for-profit corporation with a volunteer Board of
Directors. NCFAN undergoes annual audits, as well as
institutional reviews by the Deaprtment of Health, State
of Florida, and the United Way of Alachua County. All
